(Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ottawa, June 15, 2023) — Nature Canada’s Women for Nature are proud to celebrate Kassidy Matheson of Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island, as a recipient of our 2023 Young Nature Leaders Grant. This grant encourages, fosters and nurtures youth to demonstrate their leadership in nature.

Kassidy will host a series of workshops on native and invasive plants to engage her local community to learn about the plants that inhabit Prince Edward Island.

“Through this project, I will engage my community to learn about the plants that inhabit PEI. I will host a series of workshops on native and invasive plants, including how to collect native seeds so that they can contribute to the health of PEI’s landscape”, says Kassidy Matheson. “Together we will plant a native seed garden to restore local nature and ensure the community has access to a native seed source for years to come for their own gardens!”

Kassidy is a Young Nature Leader alongside alongside these youth whose projects will be announced later this year:
